Easter 2016

Easter is my favorite time of the year. Most importantly, I love to reflect on the significance of Easter. But in addition to that Good News, I enjoy the fresh spring air, blooms popping up all over the yard, pretty pastel colors and of course – sweets!

My two favorite types of Easter candy are peeps (I like to poke holes in the packaging and let them stale out a bit first) and jelly beans (I tried the Welch’s ones this year – so yummy!!). OH Cadbury eggs too! So I have three favorites ;-)

And then there are COOKIES!

This time of the year, (pre-wedding season), I like to participate in the annual Spring Craft Show at Central Dauphin High School. It’s a great opportunity to get out in the community, meet new people and sell cupcakes & cookies in a fun setting! Plus, my mom always comes to visit this weekend to help me out! She always makes “work” feel more like “play” :)

So here are some of the fun designs I came up with this year…

Of course there were MINIONS!

And I also did some cute “Peep Pops” too!

We had such a blast at the craft show – thank you so much to everyone who came to visit! I was blown away by how many familiar faces we saw! :-)

So now that we’ve swooned over the “cutesie” part of the Easter season, I’d like to share the true reason I love this time of year so much:

Jesus!

I will tell you that the story of Easter, once truly received and accepted, will forever change your life. It did mine. And I will be forever in “awe” of the awesome God I call Father. I can’t put into words the overwhelming emotions it gives me to think of God’s power and love – His mercy and grace…and how grateful I am for Jesus. I am forgiven, I am accepted, I am loved; and I have a hope that is unshakable because I believe with all of my heart and soul that Jesus did indeed RISE and that He is ALIVE and that He is coming back one glorious day. I believe that every challenge (and victory) in this life is meant for God to use as a refining process to make us more like Jesus and to bring us closer to Him. I think of Bethel Music‘s song “This is what you do”:

It’s always like springtime with You
Making all things new
Your light is breaking through the dark
This love it is sweeter than wine
Bringing joy, bringing life
Your hope is rising like the dawn
This is what You do
You make me come alive

I live my life with the weight of Easter in my heart. I interact with my family, my friends, my customers with a deep understanding that I am here to LOVE and serve people with the spirit of Christ in me. So while I’m far from perfect, and I’m always going to face challenges – I know that my true purpose is to simply love on the people God has put in my life, share the Good News of Jesus, and do my best to represent Him well. He gave his life for me, and I want to live my life for Him.

…and so “sugar scripture” was born! :-)

Happy Easter!

xoxo,

Kyrsten
