Jessica and Sean’s wedding was an extra special one for me. Jess and I have been good friends since high school and it was such an honor to be a part of her big day. She is one of the sweetest, funniest, most caring and most fun-loving people I know and I was so happy when I saw that she had found her “perfect guy” in Sean :)
I am so happy for these two. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful – the outpouring of love and emotion was overwhelming. Such a great couple right here :)
Photography was done by the American Wedding Group. I loved how they caught this picture with all of the “bubbles” when they came out of the church as Mr. and Mrs. O’Grady!
The reception was held at St. Clarence Pavilion in North Olmsted, Ohio. When you walked into the venue, there was a cute “happily ever after” chalkboard sign and then these awesome place card displays!
The guests names were all handwritten on tiny, ribbon-strung wood discs and the table number was written on the backside. So adorable.
The details of this wedding were all so pretty and personalized – burlap table cloths with poems and quotes on them, vintage frames with pictures of Jess and Sean, wooden slab table centerpieces, and many other decorative pieces that really added to the elegant rustic theme of the reception
I took these pictures the evening before the wedding. It was really neat to be at the venue by myself for a little bit – I got to really “take in” all of the details, pray for my sweet friend and enjoy the quiet time before the big party…
Since the wedding was in Ohio, there was a lot of careful planning that had to be done in order to not only transport this wedding cake, but also be able to finish it at the venue.
The final guest count was 273! (We did a 3-tier cake for display and sheet cakes for the remaining servings) The cake traveled over 300 miles…and I was so happy (and relieved!) that everything came together perfectly :)
Once everything was decorated and I had the wedding cake finished, my sister came by to do some photographing :)
This made the entire thing even more special, that my sister was able to photograph my cake. She did such a great job with these shots and I am so excited to share them…
She even got one of me with the cake :)
Here are some pictures the photographer got of Jess and Sean cutting and eating the cake :)
Congratulations, Jess and Sean! Thank you so much for the opportunity to make your cake and be a part of your big day. I am so happy for you both and wish you many many blessings. Being married to your best friend is so special and I am so happy you two get to experience that joy and love in your new journey together :)
(Another shot here by their photographer – aren’t they stunning?!)
Jess made for such a gorgeous bride :)
Thank you also to my sister, Marissa, for capturing these beautiful pictures of the cake! I hope some day we can work together more often ;) … To see more of her work, you can check out her Marissa Kristyne Photography page on facebook!
I was so excited to make this cake for Janelle and Derrik’s wedding last weekend. They were such a cute and fun couple! Their wedding was held at Lakefield in Manheim. The venue is very charming and so beautiful!
The venue has a large rustic barn for the wedding reception, a 1852 farmhouse with a large porch great for pictures, and two small ponds that make for a perfect backdrop! The wedding ceremony was held outside along the edge of one of the two ponds on the property.
The barn is so unique inside – very rustic with big open windows open to the gorgeous views of the farmland outside. The inside of the barn was decorated with strung lights, burlap and cute little personalized accents. The bright summer flowers added a fun pop of color to the table settings.
Janelle’s dad actually made the wooden cake stand for the wedding and it fit into the theme perfectly.
The flavors of the cake were berry swirl cake with lemon buttercream filling and apple spice cake with caramel buttercream filling. Yum!
One of my favorite things from this wedding was getting to see the bride’s reaction to the cake. Janelle was taking pictures with her bridal party when I arrived, but came into the barn as I was setting up. Everyone huddled around the cake table to get that “first look” – they all loved it and it was so special to see Janelle smile at the cake all set up :) It’s in those moments I am so thankful that I get to be a small part of joy in someone’s “big” day.
Congratulations Janelle and Derrik!
