This cake was for Kristina (one of my recent bride)’s father – it was his 60th birthday this weekend and she wanted to surprise him with a fun cake. We went with a golf theme and I had a lot of fun making all of the little fondant details, especially the golfer :-)
(This cake was inspired by a cake Kristina found online)
The flavor of the cake was this season’s BEST flavor – caramel apple!! Sweet apple cake baked with fresh local apples and super yummy caramel buttercream made with home-made caramel sauce. Yum :) Kristina and her husband actually chose this flavor for one of the tiers in her wedding cake, but didn’t end up getting to try any because her guests gobbled up all of the cake (and cupcakes!) before they could go back for more, haha!
Thanks for staying in touch, Kristina! I hope your dad had a wonderful birthday and I hope to hear from you again soon! :-)
I had so much fun with this cute “baby boy” themed baby shower cake! I made cute onesie cookie favors also! The color scheme was blues and greens and I had creative freedom to come up with the design. I was to incorporate a golden retriever, baby blocks, soccer balls, dump trucks, and rattles. So between the cake and cookies, I tied those details all together..
This cake is one of my new favorites :-)
The flavors were vanilla bean cake filled with lemon curd and lemon buttercream, and vanilla bean cake filled with vanilla bean buttercream.
Here are the cookie favors! :-)
I just loved this cake…Girly, pretty, and designed by the birthday girl herself (she has great taste)! The theme was “lilies” and her color scheme was shades of pink and white. Here’s what I came up with…
The most challenging part of this cake was hand-making the sugar lilies. Sugar flowers are so beautiful but they do require a lot of work and patience! This was so much fun for me to go back and brush up on some old skills I haven’t used in a while. I always like a challenge and I love learning, so it was a very rewarding experience once the flowers were finished and I was able to place them on the cake.
Victoria’s mother, Jennifer, also ordered some “Sweet 16” cookie favors for decoration…
Fun fact: Jennifer is the owner and creator of Sweet Victoria’s Dessert Co., which she named after her daughter!
Happy Sweet 16th Birthday, Victoria!! :-)
